If you're single and there's something chancy about a new relationship, this is a trap you will willingly walk into. How do you know whether something is going to work or not unless you give it a chance? You've always been willing to take the odd risk or two if you felt the consequences could be worth it and in this instance you have no doubt about what you are doing. If you're working, look for something constructive to do today.

Listen to your inner voice when dealing with people who try to belittle or criticise you. If they're refusing to let you have your say, turn around and walk away. You don't have the time or energy to argue with those who are so full of themselves they're out of control. It might be hard to get this out of your system and you might dwell on it for a few hours but then you should let it go. Notice how some people enjoy arguing; this is a lesson for any future encounters you may have with them.

If you notice someone seems to have more than their fair share of problems, don't jump in to help them before you've worked out exactly why they have so many. Could it be they're the type that attracts trouble and in giving them some of your time and attention, this could rub off on you? If you don't have the heart to walk away, at least protect your own interests by keeping your distance and be certain you aren't dragged into their difficulties.

A problem comes about in a way you were least expecting. Someone who has always been honest and reliable could let you down. This might give you some time to call your own. More and more, recently, you've been devoting your time to work, making money and other commitments rather than on hobbies, family and friends. Take the chance while it is being offered to relax and enjoy life a bit more. If you do you may also realise what you saw as a problem earlier was a blessing in disguise.

Someone you've come to admire and grow fond of is trying to change you now; why can't they be happy with who you are? Despite liking this person a lot, you are starting to realise you were happier being who you were before you met. It doesn't make any sense for you to have to change just because they want you to. The only exception to this is if their intentions are purely for the good of your emotional or physical health, then maybe there's some justification to their requests.

Don't make excuses about why you feel reluctant to take a risk other people are keen on; no explanations are necessary. There are those who will always jump in feet first no matter what the consequences and if this is the way they're happy to live, leave them to it. You are more cautious, you care about what the future might bring and it's not because you fear everything, it's because you want to avoid possible disappointment. Let your conscience be your guide.

Keep a watchful eye on someone who has been constantly badgering you for something lately. An associate's favourite trick is to wait around until they think everyone has dropped their guard then they grab their chance. Their strategy is to employ the element of surprise to cause maximum impact. If you're watchful, you will be able to catch them before they manage to get their own way. Remember, someone is trying to fool you; don't let them!

You aren't anticipating any return in a relationship when you are giving more and more of yourself unselfishly. The only reward you expect when helping a friend with their studies, a colleague with their work or giving your time to an ailing relative, is to have been able to make a difference to their lives. The unseen compensation is through the way this experience helps you to become more forgiving, loving and understanding of the shortcomings of others.

If you have regrets about not doing or saying something in the past, be sure to learn from your mistakes. Rather than dwelling on the thoughts 'if only I did this differently' consider how you might, in the future, turn this experience to your advantage. When a similar situation arises, you are more likely to make the right choice or decision. Put some time aside to hear a partner's problems this evening, they could really do with your advice.

An opportunity seems too good to miss but you are also aware of what you might lose if you go for it. A higher position is an exciting proposition but you can't take a step backwards once you've accepted this post. As you advance up the professional ladder, so someone will be replacing you and this thought isn't something you find easy to handle. If you don't feel ready to make such a move or if there are any doubts at all, hold back.

A boardroom meeting, interview or trial situation will go better than expected as long as you relax. You won't ever be totally free of nerves but having the support of others in a similar situation will help. As much as you enjoy your independence, there may be a need to join forces with others now. Don't be surprised if you find yourself nominated for the role of project manager. If you have the managerial capability to do the job, go for it.

Turning down a commitment you aren't ready for is the most sensible thing you can do. You aren't passing the buck if you don't want to step up to the mark. If an offer is sudden and unexpected, at least get the advice of someone experienced or knowledgeable before you respond.
