It's hard to break the ice if a colleague or neighbour won't meet you half way. If you're going to be working closely with someone who is new to the work scene you need to find a way to keep things between you pleasant and harmonious. Get them talking and find out if you share interests or sports aside from work. It might be up to you to initiate the conversation but once the ice is broken, it will be easier to talk with them again.

If at first you don't succeed, approach someone who is an expert and get their advice. This could save you a lot of time and effort. Trying and trying again will be pointless if you aren't approaching the task right in the first place. Someone will be surprised at something you do for them today. You owe them a favour and you take pride in the fact you've never gone back on a promise.

Assign a timeline to your goals; don't take the attitude you will achieve them, eventually. Once you've determined precisely what you want, decide on a timeframe to achieve it in. The deadline you create for yourself will foster a sense of urgency and purpose. In turn this will serve as an important motivator and prevent disinterest and procrastination. A senior colleague might expect you to do something which goes against your moral principals.

If you can't keep someone happy despite your best efforts, why feel as if you're the one to blame? You and a partner or a close friend need to spend some time apart so you're able to mull things over and view this relationship from a different perspective. A colleague feels bitter about changes in the work place and will try to drag you into office politics. If you'd rather stay out of it, don't get involved.

Others seem to expect you to make changes to fall in with their wishes; they clearly haven't yet met your more stubborn side! If you don't mind making the sacrifice, they're still unlikely to see the more inflexible part of you today. You will happily do their bidding and there's no harm done. Conversely if you prefer to continue with your plans, there is no way anyone is going to persuade you differently!

It's not easy to get involved with projects you've had no experience in; your inclination is to stick with what you know. Whether it's a lack of faith in your own abilities or a subconscious fear of failure, life will get boring and monotonous if you constantly avoid changes. If you want to get ahead, you've got to start somewhere or you will never know whether or not you will succeed.

You might make it your mission to encourage family, friends and colleagues to be more ecologically responsible. Your efforts may consist of some form of environmental initiative such as recycling, replanting or using alternative resources. Sending letters to a local newspaper or parish magazine and encouraging members of your community to take an active interest will all go towards influencing others to help the environment.

It won't be easy to stick to a diet if friends and colleagues bring in cakes, doughnuts and snacks almost on a daily basis. Even if the social makeup of groups you're involved in dictate that participation is mandatory, you should explain why it's more important for you to avoid the sweet stuff and head for the gym. Those who don't understand aren't true friends. Those who support you are the friendships you should cultivate in the future.

It might seem like an invasion of privacy when your boss goes through your desk or files without any warning. They may be abusing their position or they may have the right but if you feel they're out of line, report them to a higher authority. Don't sit back and allow people to treat you in a way you find improper and unacceptable. You have your rights too so find out what they are.

Some burdens must be shouldered alone; you will gain more confidence in the process. What you are going through now is a learning experience and other people will appreciate your initiative, your inner strength and determination. You might tell yourself that you should take on less work in the future as you could do with more relaxation but for now you can fulfil all obligations and do it well.

Try to avoid the chance a certain event gives you to tell the occasional white lie. You might do this without thinking simply through telling people what they want to hear even if it's not what you had meant to say. Someone could catch you out and your original intention of pleasing people could have the opposite affect. Best to be honest in your relationships, both at home and at work.

You might wonder how much trust you should put in another person's intuition as they urge you to take them seriously. You've always been in touch with your instincts and you know they rarely let you down. Even so this doesn't mean you should heed someone else's advice based solely on their intuitive feelings. Respect them for having shared their thoughts with you but in the end, listen to your own voice instead.
